Rhys Mildon - Assistant Trainer

Rhys grew up in Ohaupo and has been a key figure in the growth of Marsh Racing. Prior to joining the team, Rhys spent time working abroad in the UK and Australia gaining valuable experience which makes him an asset to the operation. Since joining the team he has seen the stable expand in both quantity and quality from what was only a barn of 38 horses. 

Rhys has had many memorable days in racing (including being heavily involved in the success of Group 1 winner, Ruud Awakening) he says his proudest moment came as a part owner in the Marsh Trained Belle Fascino. The mare won 11 races including two Group 3 events for her connections.

Tania Clarkson - Office manager

Tania has been with Stephen since March 2008 when he relocated to Cambridge from Woodville. More commonly known around the stables as Tarnz, she joined the team as Stephens personal assistant and with the expanding business is now office manager. Tarnz is fundamental in keeping everything running smoothly and when she’s not looking after things at home, enjoys a day out at the races to cheer on the team.

Ashley Tomkinson-New Barn Foreman

Ashely landed in New Zealand back in 2016 and joined the team as a trackwork rider and strapper and quickly became a valuable member of staff. He previously travelled Mark Two and Campari to Syndey for a successful campaign before deciding to move back to Wales to study. With Senior Foreperson Paige heading to the broodmare paddock (maternity leave) we are thrilled to welcome Ash back, taking her place at the new barn. Ash describes his perfect day off as having breakfast at InStone Cafe Cambridge, hiking with friends and enjoying an expresso martini to finish.
